New Digitally Enabled Store from Inditex Brand Lefties Streamlines Operational Processes and Augments the Customer Experience

Last month McMillanDoolittle launched Retail Innovations 2023, our annual publication featuring cutting edge retail concepts from around the world. In this #ThemeThursday innovation feature, we highlight a new ‘digital store’ concept launched last fall by the Spanish fashion retailer Lefties. Lefties – a part of the Inditex group – is an affordable clothing retailer based in Spain that operates in 10 markets through physical stores and ecommerce. Lefties began as a bargain store to sell overstocks and grew into a prominent brand selling its own collections for women, men, and children. The brand’s new ‘digital store’ format launched in Barcelona in September of 2022 and brought many innovative solutions to its customers and employees. Innovations aimed at optimizing operational efficiency include automatic fitting room allocation, a drop box to dispose of unwanted fitting room garments, robotized online order pickup, and RFID technology to facilitate self-payment (no manned checkout lines are present). Arcade games throughout the store, touch screens to customize clothing with embroidery and patches (completed in-store in minutes), and an in-store café enhance the customer experience.
