Announcing the Release of Retail Innovations 2022
We are pleased to announce the release of Retail Innovations 2022. For almost two decades, McMillanDoolittle has been tracking cutting edge concepts from around the world in collaboration with our global Ebeltoft partners, a consortium of leading retail and brand consulting firms active in 20 mature and emerging markets. RI 2022 highlights 50 cases from across the following five trends: engagement in-store, engagement out-of-store, efficiency in-store, efficiency out-of-store, and sustainability. The retailers and brands included in this year’s issue have navigated through the challenges of the global pandemic to masterfully serve their customers and the environment.
And the Award Goes To…
Along with the release of RI 2022, we are pleased to announce this year’s McMillanDoolittle Innovation Award winner: Walmart x Mashable. In 2021, media and entertainment brand Mashable launched a completely virtual 3D Home experience presented by Walmart, offering users shoppable content from Walmart and its spring collection across a variety of categories. The Home, which users can discover via self-guided tour, features high-concept rooms, shoppable hotspots, live and on-demand programming and games. Mashable’s core content pillars including Social Good, Digital Culture, and Entertainment are highlighted through the interactive experience. The rooms also feature lifestyle content such as cooking videos in the kitchen with a famous Instagram influencer using Walmart groceries and kitchen tools. The innovative approach aims to create a holistic backdrop for organic brand content, uniting affiliate and brand goals, and driving sales. We look forward to following the growth and refinement of this concept as well as other virtual shopping initiatives Walmart has continued to roll out.
