The ninth annual GELF NYC conference is on October 12th in midtown Manhattan, and promises to be one of our best programs ever. The conference is free to attend for qualified retailers and brand executives – register here. McMillanDoolittle is proud to be a partner with GELF; Partner Jim Okamura is a GELF Co-founder and manages the community of brand and retail executives tasked with international growth, with a digital-first approach.

While ecommerce outside of the US continues to grow faster than traditional retail, this year’s GELF NYC conference expands our topic coverage to include a wide range of global growth strategies. Our community, including members of our Advisory Board, shared how they are pivoting their international growth with a wider portfolio of go-to-market channels – including international wholesale, licensees and partnerships. This doesn’t minimize the importance of DTC ecommerce strategies, it recognizes that the era of cheap customer acquisition is over, and partnerships help mitigate a global brand’s risk at a time when profit scrutiny is very high, among CFOs and investors alike. Hence this year’s program theme, profitably scaling customer engagement globally.

Two keynote panels open the GELF NYC ’23 conference program, and set the tone for the balance of the day. GELF’s opening keynote will address how organizations are profitably scaling global retail ecommerce sales by blending and balancing digital and physical retail channels. Featuring Barbara Garces, CDO of Citizen Watch Group, Kacey Sharrett, VP, Direct to Consumer at Go Pro, and Valerie de Charette, VP – International E-Commerce at American Eagle Outfitters, we’ll hear how each brand approaches their international strategies, aligned across their channels to optimize resources.

The second keynote panel continues this dialogue, with Karen Deveny, AVP, Digital Strategy & Operations for Bath & Body Works International, Claudia Gonclaves, Director of E-Commerce for Diane von Furstenberg, and Mike Singer, Director, International Partner Digital at Victoria’s Secret. We will explore working with international franchise partners, marketplaces and dive into global team building and organization strategies. The day’s full program features 30+ retail executives and experts who will share their experience and insights, with fantastic takeaways for early stage and veteran global executives alike.

GELF NYC is a one-day conference, with a full program and networking opportunities throughout the day. For more information or to register, see our website, or to watch past conference sessions, see our YouTube channel. Contact Jim Okamura if you’d like to get involved with the community.
